Health
Like most of the country, Lewis County has been dealing with an opioid crisis for the last 30 years. Thanks to Attorney General Bob Ferguson, Lewis County will receive a cumulative $5.3 Million spread over the course of eight to nine years to help fight against the opioid crisis. Damian believes that the county can make this money go farther than it otherwise would if the county government took a collaborative approach —working alongside local NGOs— rather than an adversarial one.
Economic Development
Lewis County’s economic situation is in dire straits. With a lack of affordable housing, economic mobility, and family wage jobs. It is no surprise that many of Lewis County’s young folks are leaving to places like Olympia, Tacoma, Seattle, and Vancouver in search of better economic prospects. To combat this brain drain, Damian will work to entice large employers that pay well to come and set up shop in our county, while also bolstering our small businesses and retaining Lewis County’s rustic charm.

Safety
Damian will not rest until all feel safe and welcome in Lewis County. As a member of the Queer community and lifelong resident of Lewis County, Damian understands many of the issues that marginalized groups face daily in their own communities. With the visible increase of extremist organizations recruiting in our own backyards, Damian believes it is time to show the world that hate has no home in Lewis County.
Environmental
Stewardship
As an avid nature lover and former boy scout, Damian understands the importance of preserving our county’s natural beauty for future generations to enjoy. With an increased threat to our county’s natural resources from droughts, wildfires, diminishing snow pack, and unsustainable fish runs within our river basins, Damian believes Lewis County needs to take a proactive approach in mitigating these problems that lie just over the horizon.
Agriculture
& Food Access
Despite Lewis County being home to 1700+ farms, much of our population resides in what the USDA defines as “Food Deserts'' and “Food Swamps.” One of the main contributing factors to this problem is a lack of infrastructure for farmers to distribute their produce directly to local consumers. Which is why Damian wants to find sources of funding to help build up this infrastructure for our county’s farmers. Damian understands if we take care of our farmers, our farmers will take care of us.
Fiscal Responsibility
In recent years, our local government has repeatedly shown us that it can not be trusted to make sound financial decisions. Between unbalanced budgets, lay-offs, and avoidable lawsuits, it is clear that if Lewis County keeps on its current trajectory, rougher days lie ahead for all of us. Damian understands the importance of a balanced budget is in securing that our community's needs are met.
